D.t. 30-37 cm. Rasprostranjen je u jugoistočnim delovima Balkanskog poluostrva, u dolinama Dona i Volge i u delu Kazahstana severno od Aralskog jezera. Selica je koja zimu provodi u delovima istočne Afrike. Nastanjuje mozaična stepska, submediteranska i mediteranska staništa u nizinama i pobrđu, često u dolinama velikih reka ili drugim vlažnim staništima. Gnezda gradi na drveću. Hrani se krupnim insektima (skakavcima, vilinim konjicima i dr), gmizavcima, malim pticama i sisarima. Najviše ga ugrožava nestak staništa i stradanje na seobi. U Srbiji je malobrojna gnezdarica, čija je populacija slabo poznata i procenjena na 8-15 parova (Puzović et al 2003). |
